A Journey of Learning in Waco, Texas

The Texas Council for the Social Studies (TXCSS) invites educators to join us for a full day of high-quality professional development on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Waco, Texas! This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with fellow educators, gain classroom-ready strategies, and earn meaningful professional learning in an engaging environment. Space is limited—spread the word and plan to attend!

Participants will engage in two dynamic PD sessions, presented by:


Atlanta Federal Reserve, hosted by Princeton Williams

  • Pretzels and Play-Doh: Finding Economics Everywhere

    Economics is hiding around every corner, in every social studies course. Experience two classroom-ready lesson plans from Federal Reserve Education that will help your students model the decision-making process that is at the heart of the discipline of economics. Participants will have time to apply the concepts to their own standards.

  • Teachers’ Curriculum Institute (TCI)
    Tier One Toolbox: Powerful Teaching Strategies

    Elevate your instructional practice with hands-on methods shown to strengthen student outcomes. This interactive workshop, led by Becki Smith, focuses on TCI’s top strategies for building civil discourse skills and advancing writing and literacy. During this session, you will:

    • Explore two evidence-based teaching strategies for deeper learning

    • Learn how to design lessons for maximum retention and engagement

    • Uncover best practices for meaningful writing and civil discourse

    Those attending will leave ready to implement changes that create a vibrant, purposeful learning environment.


Lunch is provided courtesy of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta served around 11 AM.
