Integrating APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans) in Your Everyday Teaching - May 21 @ 6:30 PM

Join the Asian American Education Project for a webinar tailored to TXCSS members, focusing on integrating APIDA perspectives into everyday teaching. This session will highlight the contributions of Asian Americans in the U.S., particularly in Texas and the South, from the 1800s to the present. Participants will learn about their historical struggles and achievements, including roles in labor activism, school integration, and legislative milestones like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Title IX. Practical teaching strategies will be offered, such as comparing Ellis Island and Angel Island, analyzing Supreme Court cases like Tape v. Hurley, and examining Native Hawaiian sovereignty.

Educators will gain access to tailored K–12 curriculum resources that showcase the rich history of Asian Americans, emphasizing their ongoing impact. This webinar aims to enrich teaching practices by highlighting the vital role of Asian Americans in shaping Texas and America's past, present, and future.

The Zoom link will be shared closer to the date of the event.
